Port Khalid in Sharjah, home to container terminal operator “Gulftainer Company Limited”, added 200 mtr further berthing facilities and increased Gulftainer’s storage / stacking area by 30,000 m2. The existing facilities consisted of 786 mtr quays and a terminal area of 150,000 m2. Main Contractor for the expansion works was China Harbour Engineering Company and Gulf Cobla has been requested to undertake the dredging works in the port to increase the draft to 12.5 mtr. All in all a quantity of approx. 500,000 m3 of sand and rock has been dredged for the development of this project.
